Two Lewis teams have nearly completed Phase 1 Amazon’s new headquarters.
The shell and core project was completed under budget and ahead of schedule. This included two new six-story buildings, one five-story building, and reuse of the historic Van Vorst Building facade as part of a new cafe and conference center building.
Separately, we are finalizing construction of the entire 362,000 square foot interior working directly for Amazon. The offices feature high-capacity data and communication systems as well as extensive security. The tenant improvement project is pursuing LEED-CI.
Teamwork with other contractors in the busy neighborhood has been key. Our shell and core team hosted bi-weekly meetings to coordinate the efforts of all general contractors and the City of Seattle, so that we could cooperate to make everyone more successful. Topics included street use, truck routes, pour schedules, delivery schedules, pedestrian access, fencing, and protection of the streetcar that runs between the sites (and between the Lewis buildings).
